Emrys Journal

There are presently no open calls for submissions

The 2011 submission period ended on November 1, 2011. Please plan to submit next fall.

The editors of the Emrys Journal invite submissions of previously unpublished short fiction, poetry, and essays. Submission period was August 1 - November 1, 2011, for our spring 2012 issue.

The Emrys Journal is, to use the words of an Emrys founder, one outlet for “writers … who [are] in sore need of a place to present their work, an audience to receive the work, and a patron to subsidize the projects.”

Many writers have gotten their start with publication in the Emrys Journal, which began in 1984, and we have also been pleased to publish works of the highest quality from respected and established writers from the Journal's home base of Greenville, South Carolina to the far corners of the world.

The Emrys Journal accepts:
- Poems (up to three)
- Short fiction (5,000 words max)
- Essays (5,000 words max)

Our submission period was 8/1/11 to 11/1/11. We accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. There is no charge to submit. For sample writings, please see past works from the Emrys Journal.
